TV Santa Barbara Upgrades to Cablecast
TV Santa Barbara Upgrades to Cablecast: Better Streaming, Better Quality, Better Access
Since 1975, TV Santa Barbara has served as Santa Barbara County’s nonprofit community media center — a trusted platform where local voices, local stories, and local issues get the airtime they deserve. As of July 1, 2026, that mission just got a major upgrade.
We’re excited to announce that TV Santa Barbara has moved to Cablecast, a next-generation broadcast and streaming platform that enhances how our programming reaches you — whether you’re watching on cable, streaming from your laptop, or catching up on a show from your phone.
What’s Changing
The move to Cablecast brings real, tangible improvements to the TV Santa Barbara viewing experience:
Improved video quality. Programming across Channels 17 and 71 will look sharper and more consistent, giving local producers’ work the visual quality it deserves.
Better streaming, anywhere. Whether you’re at home on a smart TV, at your desk on a laptop, or on the go with a tablet or phone, TV Santa Barbara content will stream more reliably and consistently across every device.
A stronger video-on-demand library. Cablecast streamlines how our on-demand content is organized and delivered, making it easier to find and watch past episodes, specials, and community programming whenever you want.
Expanded capacity for local voices. This upgrade isn’t just about viewers — it also strengthens our ability to support the local producers, nonprofits, and community members who rely on TV Santa Barbara to share their stories with our community, ensuring their work reaches audiences reliably and in the best possible quality.
Why This Matters
Community media exists to do something increasingly rare: create space for thoughtful, long-form conversations that inform, connect, and preserve the stories of our community — not just for today’s audience, but for generations to come. As more of our world moves toward quick, disposable content, TV Santa Barbara remains committed to being a place where in-depth, meaningful programming still has a home.
This technology upgrade ensures that commitment isn’t just preserved — it’s strengthened. Better infrastructure means our programming can reach more people, in more places, without compromising on quality.
Thank You
This upgrade wouldn’t have been possible without the support of TV Santa Barbara’s Board of Directors and Montecito Bank & Trust, whose investment in community media reflects a shared belief in the value of local storytelling. We’re deeply grateful for their partnership in making this upgrade a reality.
