Updates on the Carpinteria Library Transition Process ????
JUNE 13, 2022 CARPINTERIA CITY COUNCIL MEETING — City Librarian Jody Thomas updated the City Council on the progress of the Carpinteria Branch Library transition to the Carpinteria Community Library during the Temporary Adjournment for the Purpose of Holding the Monthly Meeting of the Carpinteria Library Board of Trustees.
On-demand water heaters have arrived. The book drop has been coated in Carpinteria green. Books and existing furniture will be delivered back to the library this upcoming Saturday, with new library furniture aimed to be arriving by the fall season. An IT team is coming in Tuesday to connect technology. There are plans in place to powerwash the building with the vision to make the entire building “refreshed and sparkling,” expressed Thomas. Two library technicians are excited to join the team, and job openings for a third and fourth are in place, with qualifications including library experience and an Associate of Arts degree or commensurate experience, and job responsibilities including acquiring, cataloging and circulating materials, performing technical and clerical work, leading programs and providing general information and assistance to library patrons. The soft opening of the library is Friday, July 1, 2022, with a celebration on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
